Governor Profiles

Sandra Margison

Field Lane LGB Staff Governor

I have worked at Field Lane for fifteen years. I currently work in Y5 as a teaching assistant as well as teaching ICT across school in the afternoons and organising after school clubs. I enjoy being a Governor as I believe that schools need to provide all children with a high standard of education. My role as a Governor has helped me to understand how decisions in schools are made and how the structure of the Trust works. I have two grown up sons with whom I enjoy spending time with. I have many hobbies and really enjoy walking and drawing in my spare time.

Helen Williamson

Field Lane LGB Parent Governor

My name is Helen. I am married with 3 children aged 15, 11 and 8 and I am a Parent Governor at Field Lane Primary School. I have been a parent at the school for 11 years and my 2 youngest children are still at the school. I have always been very passionate about the school and how it operates, in order to get the best education for all the children. Since we became an Academy in partnership with Siddal Primary School, my passion and dedication is for both schools, continuously working together to maintain the high standards that both schools deliver to all children across the Academy Trust. I am a regular face around the school and most children and parents know me well. I have been on school trips and until recently I was part of the schools PFA organising school event but I chose to stand down from this to focus solely on my role as a Family Governor.

Candice Whitaker

Field Lane LGB Parent Governor

Since moving to the area just over a year ago, all three of my children have attended Field Lane and I am extremely pleased with their social, emotional and academic attainment. As a parent governor, I am delighted at the opportunity to assist the school in continuing to provide a supportive, caring and engaging learning environment, in which all of our children are able to develop their own individual talents. Originally from an entertainment background, I have more recently completed a degree in psychology and am currently undertaking a Masters level degree in the same field, for which I am also the course representative. I have a lot to learn about the education system and the role, but hope that my passion for learning will be beneficial in this position.

Kath Simpson

Field Lane LGB Parent Governor

Hi my name is Kath; I am a mum of 4 girls and I am a registered childminder . I enjoy socialising with friends, counted cross stitch and reading crime novels. I also enjoy working in a liberal club on the weekends. I volunteer within school supporting the PTFA and enjoy keeping busy. I have worked in early years for 14 years and when the position of parent governor came up at Field Lane school I thought it would be a good opportunity to broaden my knowledge and help to support the school and my daughter . I wish to support the school to grow from strength to strength and aspire to maintain and enhance the outstanding standards the school has already achieved.

Katie Maddock

Luddendenfoot LGB Staff Governor

I have been teaching now for 7 years. During this time, I have worked across a range of schools, teaching in Early Years and throughout KS1 and KS2. I am now a Year 3 class teacher and thoroughly enjoy it. To add to this, I am also the PE co-ordinator and am keen to enrich sporting experiences for all children. I have now been at Luddendenfoot Academy for over a year and in this time have been passionate about the school, impressed by the attitudes to learning that the children have and the positive and enthusiastic staff. Outside of work, I am married and live a well-balanced busy life spending time with family and friends. I am a keen cook and enjoy travelling particularly to a range of different countries. I was honoured to be asked to join the Local Governing Body as a Staff Governor and I am really dedicated to developing and securing the visions that the leadership team have to move the school forward. Every child should be inspired to reach their full potential by means of a quality education. A caring, enthusiastic, creative teacher in a well-supported, happy school is an integral part of this process, which I firmly believe that I am. My commitment, as both a class teacher and a Staff Governor, is to encourage and support every child to reach their potential and be proud of who they are.

Yvonne Ratledge

Luddendenfoot LGB Parent Governor

My name is Yvonne Ratledge. I am a happily retired grandparent of two boys who attend Luddendenfoot Academy. As I had time on my hands, I wanted to do something to help the community in which I live and what better way than at the school my grandsons attend. I assist with reading twice a week, which I find very rewarding and this led me to consider other ways in which I could help, hence becoming part of the Governing Body. My main priority is that all children are happy and safe at school and will look back on their time there with fond memories. I have lived in the Calder Valley all my life and look forward to bringing a wealth of experience, both old and new, to young, inquisitive minds. I am very family orientated so most of my spare time is spent with the family, although I don't mind the odd holiday in the sun away from it all
