The child will always be at the centre, with personalised learning our starting point, making the challenges of 'Every Child Matters' a reality. Each child will be encouraged to develop a greater understanding of themselves as a learner, what their strengths are, how they can share these with others and their next steps in their continual learning journey. Pupils will be encouraged and inspired to believe in themselves, build dreams and aspirations and strive to achieve these.
Every child will be given the same opportunity to succeed, whatever his or her prior attainment. A key principle of Brighter Futures Academy Trust is that member Academies maintain their own character. However we aim to capture and maximize the collective expertise and skill set for the benefit of all members of the organisation.Find out more about Our Achievements »

Passion - Working in education, we have the ability to profoundly change children’s lives; the stakes are incredibly high. Our aim should always be to provide for the pupils of our Academies what we would want for our own children.
Urgency - The amount of time children spent in education is finite. We have a responsibility to ensure every moment a child is in a Brighter Futures School must be spent productively. Once wasted, it is gone forever and cannot be given back.
Positivity - Staff have a responsibility to be positive and supportive of each other. Negativity leads to low expectations and a culture where excuses are tolerated. Aspiration - Embodied in the Trust motto, “Where Children Succeed,” all members of staff aim for excellence in their individual professional roles.
Commitment - Staff are prepared to go the extra mile to provide the best possible education for their pupils. The interests of children are always placed ahead of those of staff.Find out more values »
"Siddal provides an outstanding standard of education for all its pupils. The outstanding leadership and management ensure that highly effective strategies for the school's improvement are extremely well focused on high quality learning. The senior leadership team, all members of staff and the governing body have worked tirelessly to raise standards of attainment and improve provision. This pursuit of excellence accounts for the school's outstanding capacity for sustained improvement. The school is exceptionally well led and managed. Rigorous monitoring of pupils' performance and constant self-evaluation are the foundation of the school's success and demonstrate leaders' high aspirations and ensures that any unevenness in academic performance or personal development is addressed immediately."
Outstanding leadership and management at all levels have ensured high achievement across the school. Middle leaders are highly effective in their roles. The dynamic and flexible leadership team encompasses non-teaching as well as teaching staff, united in the drive towards excellence. Much has been accomplished in a short time, facilitated by the very effective support from the academy chain. The leadership team sets, and expects, exacting goals and uses staffing flexibly across the academy partnership to achieve excellence for all. The leadership of teaching is excellent. First-rate professional development of teachers and teaching assistants means that they know their craft, having exceptional subject knowledge and expertise to challenge and motivate pupils.
The interim headteacher, with the support of the governors, has introduced a number of significant measures to bring about improvement. The work of the school is now rigorously monitored, systems for performance management of teachers are robust, and clear action plans are in place. Pupils make good progress in reading. They learn in Reception and Key Stage 1 how to use phonics (their knowledge of letters and the sounds that they make) to sound out words. They develop their skills across Key Stage 2 so that by Year 6 they can read fluently, with confidence and obvious enjoyment. The interim headteacher has introduced a cycle of lesson observations, and teachers are now receiving clear and accurate feedback about their performance and guidance about how to improve. The interim headteacher is using links with the Brighter Futures Trust to ensure support from other schools, and opportunities have been provided for staff to observe good practice in teaching elsewhere.
